The derby of this round is in Trujillo, where local Universidad Cesra Vallejo hosts the surprise of 2012 Real Garcilaso in the clash of both teams that occupy the summit of the table. Melgar missed to win last round for third consecutive time. They were held 1-1 away to Sport Boys. Melgar had great start of 2012 but lately their results are going into wrong direction. Their record is 4-1-0 in Arequipa and traditionally they are one of the strong home teams. The defender Balta is suspended for two matches, but all other players are available and I expect another solid performance. Universitario are a club full of problems recently. They played with some strong home teams, two derbies of Lime and bad luck (for example the draw 1-1 away to Union Comercio with 89th mniute equalizer and 2-1 defeat at Inti Gas when finished the match with 9 players). Just the coach Mosquera said I do not see a crisis in the performance of the team but in the results. The coach Flavio Torres do not have big problems before this match, but will face against a well-known person on the other bench.
His name is Jose Bernal. The current coach of Deportes Tolima led Deportivo Pasto twice in his carrier, including 2011 when led Pasto to promotion in Primera A. But as Bernal said his heart belongs to Tolima and decided to return at home. But both times when he led Deportivo Pasto, Flavio Torres was his assistant coach. Since April Deportes Quindio drastically improved their performance. But the habit to play better than the opponent and to earn nothing in many causes appeared against last round. Deportes Quindio traveled to the leaders Deportes Tolima, played better in some periods of the match, hit twice the crossbar but lost 2-0. This week the challenge is much more acceptable due to two reasons. Quindio are playing much more comfortably at home and the opponent is Cucuta. Cucuta are having financial problems and there is uncertainty in the club about the future. At the moment Cucuta are on the bottom of the relegation table, while Quindio are seven points above. But we can consider this match as a battle in the relegation zone. One lucky win 2-1 over Millonarios at home in nine consecutive league matches show that Cucuta are in serious trouble. Defender Nunez and striker Nunez part company with the club, another defender Garces will not start, while midfielder Morales is injured. Both teams lost much earlier any chances to take action into the playoffs but they are involved in the race to avoid relegation. So, I expect motivated Quindio team to try to earn three valuable points against direct rival.

Costas brought new idea into the team and now Barcelona are much more attacking-orientated. The start was slow but Costas had immediately to face three biggest rivals of the team for the title – Emelec, Deportivo Quito and LDU Quito. In next two games against weaker opponents, Barcelona had no problems – 4-0 at home over Manta and 2-0 Olmedo. So, I do not expect much different game now against Macara that are close to the quality of the previous two defeated teams. Barcelona apparently are in form. They are only a point away from the first place and such easy matches at home must be won with comfort.

Macara are very interesting team. They rely most on the home matches, while as visitors are 0-3-4. Their style of football is perfect for the matches at home when they have to dominate, use the possession of the ball and most of their shots are from long-range. But the problems arrive when they are visitors. Macara do not have the comfort to play with the ball much more than the opponents and find it difficult to score away from home. They may survive because there are much weaker teams than them (Olmedo and Tecnico) but nothing more.

This weekend is the last round of Bolivian Apertura.

It is obviously that Guabira will do everything to finish behind La Paz FC in the regular season and to avoid Jorge Wilstermann in the playout, but it would be very difficult to happen. La Paz also do not want to play with Wilstermann and lost matches. Anyway, the playouts are behind the corner and I expect another match of Guabira with alternative team that will do everything needed to lose the match.

Universitario not only collected three points last round against Bolivar, but they also got a vital rest in latest tough calendar in Bolivia. That rest should be a big advantage today. Univeristario played 7 minutes against 7-player Bolivar when one of these seven players got an injury and the referee abandon the match with a 3-0 administrative win for Univeristario. Universitario have some chances to take a 2013 Libertadores place, if other results are in their favour. But all matches of the round are played at the same time, so Universitario must do their job and win here and wait for the other results.

Juan Aurich had a terrible start of the season, but since they are out of Libertadores, their form is much better. They recorded three wins in last four matches, defeating at home leaders Cesar Vallejo and the flying Melgar. Last round, Juan Aurich trashed by 3-0 Alianza Lima as visitors, in one of their best performances of the year. Midfielder Chiroque is back after served a two-match suspension. The team is in full squad and 8th place is surely not where they should be in relation to the quality of the team. The ambition to improve their league position, the artifical turf of their stadium and fans support are another advantages of Juan Aurich.

Sport Huancayo suffered from losing most of their key players from 2011 season, and in addition the coach left. So, this season surely will not be so successful for the club, because they do not have enough money to find quality replacements to those who left. Nevertheless, Sport Huancayo have average team but surely not as good as last year and it would impossible to cope with the best teams in Peru and I rate Juan Aurich as part of this group teams.  Their balance away from Huancayo is 1-1-3. They impressed only in 2-2 draw away to Cienciano when showed good level of football and the referee did not let them to win. The 2-1 victory over Universidad San Martin was in a moment when San Martin were not prepared for the start of their 2012 campaign.
